This blog is my personal guide to discovering the best things to do in Montenegro, based on my real-life experiences as a black male tourist. While the guide is for everyone, it’s especially here to support black travellers and people of color who might feel unsure about visiting. Having visited various places below over two separate occasions, I can reassure fellow black and people of color tourists that Montenego is an absolute pleasure to visit. I never experienced any negativity in my travels, and taking a chance to explore it was one of the best things I have done. Montenegro is a beautiful country both physically and from the people you will meet. However as with most other countries, people treat you the way you treat them, so be respectful and warm, and you will have a great time. Now let’s get cracking on with the list of places to visit to help your planning.
1. Revelling In The Beaches And Old Town Of Ulcinj
Ulcinj stands out with its unique blend of cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, making it a top place to visit in Montenegro. The town’s beaches stretch with fine brown sands and crystal-clear aqua waters, inviting relaxation and water sports. Velika Plaza, the longest beach in Montenegro, is a haven for sun-seekers and kitesurfers. Beyond the beach, the Old Town, offers a lovely labyrinth of cobblestone streets leading to a fortress with stunning views of the Adriatic, making it one of the 10 best places to visit. This blend of relaxation by the sea and historical exploration makes Ulcinj a perfect starting point for any traveler’s Montenegrin journey.
